Facebook opens profile to the public


This portfolio addresses the issue of privacy; privacy is a very important social part of a human being. People need privacy to feel secured; people usually don’t want their private information to be viewed by anyone else. Usually if any private information is view by another unwanted person, the person that got his private information invaded would be angry, and at other cases will be embarrassed.

An example of this issue in society is the fact that recently Facebook opened the profiles to the public. Facebook, a worldwide popular social networking website, opened the door of privacy pictures and information to the world. Users of Facebook usually post different images and private images are going to be viewable to people using search engines for example, Google or yahoo. From July 2007 Facebook became from the 60th most visited website to the 7th. There is an estimate of 8.5 million uploaded photos and 34 million users.

The IT system that is involved with this issue is that Facebook is a website that uses internet servers to run it. There are many networking that is done in the website that enable different users view other users’ profiles. This IT system is imported to society because it allows companies and companies to post personal information in a network.
Society affected by this website because it allows people that use search engines to access Facebook users’ private information and photos.

By doing this Facebook users are affected negatively but people who are seeking for their private information are fine with it. Now Facebook users are going to suffer because of this. Facebook should seal of this information if they want people to be satisfied with their rules.
