Criteria B – Laptops in Schools

All laptops are miniaturized desktop computers where it needs to be weighing less, fit in a compact space, conserve electricity, and produce less heat than Desktop computers.
During the development of the laptops, which is continuing till this day, processor have became faster and smaller leading to longer battery life and stronger performances. This also led to fewer loading times for students to deal with wasting less time of their studies.

Laptops are becoming much smaller than in the past, students who are really physically challenged who were not able to carry their bags and laptops, can now buy 1.2 kilo laptops which are available at retail. These laptops excel in mobile technology, the smaller the laptops also are more comfortable for the students as they are cheaper, colder, lighter, and run longer battery life.

The development of wireless technology expanded the mobility of the laptops. Wireless access to this involves the wireless adapter sending a radio signal to the service, then there is connection established with the service provides, after selecting a website the wireless adapter send a request to the gateway server using the network established. Which then the gateway retrieve the data from internet servers and sent which is sent to the laptop by http format. The laptop then views the website just as a DSL cable. This opened the doors for students to access the internet and do their research in class, however this also lead to distraction habits, such as opening irrelevant websites and online gaming.
